Elsas Kopje Lodge - Meru National Park, Kenya |
|
 |
The Lodge is named Elsa's Kopje - for Elsa, the orphaned lioness reared
by the lodge owners and returned to the wild in Meru and for
the rocky outcrop it sits on.
This park is singular in Kenya for
being the driest with little rainfall and at the same time resplendent
with thirteen rivers and numerous
streams running off the nearby
mountains.
|
|
The result is a striped landscape with lush green ribbons
running through dry brown valleys. From your private cottage, 5
placed well away from your neighbour, you'll enjoy a 270° view of
the surrounding park with its scattered kopjes and delightful baobab
trees.
The design of the rooms is open plan, incorporating
the rocks into the structure.
Time spent at Elsa's Kopje is certain
to be a unique component of
your visit to Kenya.
Each cottage at Elsa's Kopje is attended by a butler who also waits on the guests
at mealtimes. Dining at Elsa's, the food is traditional Northern Italian cuisine
blended with a selection of local and international dishes, fresh baked bread,
crisp salads and locally grown vegetables.
