Ngorongoro
Conservation Area is located some 190km west of Arusha Town
between Lake Manyara and Serengeti National Parks and is
within the Great Rift Valley, a gigantic fracture on the
earths crust streching across Earthen and Northern Africa.
Covering approximately 8,288 square Kilometers,
the area is composed mainly of volcanoes, mountains, craters,
plains, lakes and forests with a wide variety of wildlife.
The Ngorongoro Crater, one of the premier wildlife conservation areas in East Africa, and a scenic safari location,
is the world's largest caldera, with intact walls,
and a floor 610m below the crater rim, and covers an
area of 265sq.km (19km in diameter).
