Chwaka Bay Resort - Zanzibar Island, Tanzania

Chwaka Bay Resort is located in the east Coast of Zanzibar, near the village of Chwaka. The hotel has 20 modern rooms set in 5 double storey buildings
with a good sea view.

Another ten rooms in round bungalows are situated on a fossilized reef above
the gardens and the swimming pool. All rooms are fully equipped with
modern bathrooms, ceiling fans, wardrobe, tables and chairs, and
a terrace or balcony, overlooking the Indian Ocean.

The main building contains the reception, a spacious restaurant with a cocktail bar, an Internet Cafe, a TV-room and a lobby. All buildings are surrounded by lush tropical gardens, and from everywhere you have a glimpse of the Indian Ocean and the
nearby mangroves of the Chwaka Bay.

At the beach one will find a small lounge, where one can sit and enjoy sundowners, as the local fisherman in their fisher boats are floating by.

The hotels offer free boat rides in a local 'Dhow' to this beach, where swimming is at its best, and a small local restaurant provides cold drinks and snacks. It is a beautiful
boat trip along the mangroves of the Chwaka Bay, with its population of birds and
sea turtles. The Chwaka Bay was just recently declared as a 'National Reserve'.
